Michael ‘Mike’ Harper Obituary – The sudden passing of Dr. Michael Harper, DMD, a distinguished general dentistry specialist who devoted his entire life to providing exceptionally high-quality dental care, has left the community of Fryeburg, Maine, in a state of profound grief. Not only did Dr. Harper, who was fondly referred to as Dr. Mike, leave an indelible mark on the dental profession, but he also left an indelible mark on the lives of those he served and interacted with.
The unique upbringing in a military family that Dr. Michael Harper experienced during his formative years had an impact. The varied environments of Colorado, Idaho, Alaska, Texas, and Germany allowed him to flourish, and as a result, he developed a profound appreciation for the various cultures and experiences that he encountered. His family had a long history of dentistry, with both his father and uncle working in the field. This rich legacy was passed down to Dr. Harper, who enthusiastically embraced it. His love for dentistry was cultivated within his family.
Before obtaining his dental degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Harper completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University in Idaho. He then went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Because of his dedication to excellence, he was able to complete a residency program in advanced general dentistry that lasted for twelve months. During this time, he was able to hone his skills in cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, crown and bridge work, and develop a comprehensive understanding of his profession.
Following the completion of his education, Dr. Harper devoted seven years to the profession of providing dental care to the courageous soldiers who served in the Armed Services. This commitment exemplified his dedication to serving the needs of others. A Bronze Star was awarded to him in recognition of the selfless contributions he made while serving in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
I only got to see him once, but I found him to be an incredibly nice human being. My heart goes out to him and his family. I have been struggling with Alzheimer’s and I know that God will open his arms to him.
